Welcome to Government Information Services

Federal Depository Library logo

The WVU Libraries have been the Federal Depository for the state of West Virginia since 1882. It also has been a depository for state publications since 1996. We are committed to providing free public access to government information to WVU faculty, staff, and students, as well as citizens of West Virginia. For assistance in accessing government documents, ask at the reference desk or contact Matt Steele, Government Documents Librarian and Regional Coordinator, matthew.steele1@mail.wvu.edu, 304-293-4240.

WVU Libraries Government Information Services is located on the first level of the Downtown Campus Library, and is part of the Reference Department. Information about physical access, directions, hours, and parking can be found through links from the Downtown Campus Library site.

Federal government documents, including books, pamphlets, posters, maps, microfiche, CD-ROMs, and DVDs, are received and processed in the Downtown Campus Library and then distributed to other WVU libraries by subject.  All libraries on campus contain some federal government documents.
