Teaching or Instructional Assistance

The Library faculty are your instructional partners.  We assist with the teaching/learning process through individual sessions in classes, with individual faculty consultations, embedded in specific classes, and by providing customized instructional resources.   We are able to provide on-site instruction either within or outside of the Library facility --- all tailored to your specific needs.

Discuss your requirements by contacting the Information Desk at 304-788-6901 or by emailing Dr. Charles A. Julian at:  charles.julian@mail.wvu.edu.

  • Study rooms (reserve them online)
  • Academic Success Center [Ground Floor of the Library – tutoring, testing, computer lab]

Teaching and Learning Commons - Keyser Affiliate (TLC)

The Library hosts the Keyser affiliate of the Teaching and Learning Commons where you can:

  • Participate in media creation (audio, graphics, streaming media, and video production)
  • Use 3D printers to create three-dimensional objects
  • Use computer modeling programs to mechanically design objects and create specifications
  • Explore ways to enhance the teaching and learning process (interactive learning objects, infographics, or audio/visual course design elements)

Course Reserves

The Library hosts and loans items (mostly for use in the Library) which are placed on reserve by your professor.   These items are often listed in the course syllabus and can also be searched by course name, instructor, or department via our online catalog at:  https://psclibrary.on.worldcat.org/courseReserves/landing

Borrowing From Other Libraries (Interlibrary Loan)

When you need to locate material not owned by the Mary F. Shipper Library, it’s possible to request and/or borrow materials from other libraries (interlibrary loan or ILL). Physical items are mailed to the Library, so be sure to make your request early enough to allow time for the material to arrive. When possible, the Library requests electronic submission of information which expedites its receipt. PSC Library users who wish to borrow materials from other libraries via ILL must log on to PSC ILLiad with their WVU Login credentials and register their account.. Contact the Information Desk for more details.
