Who May Use The Library?
All public resources of the Mary F. Shipper Library are available to faculty, students, and staff and members of the public possessing a specific research interest.
What is the Library’s Acceptable Behavior Policy?
Use of library materials, resources and services should not disturb other patrons--these resources are in the library to be shared by all. Inappropriate behavior is considered to be behavior which creates disturbances, interferes with other patrons’ use of the library, and/or damages library property. Offenders who display unacceptable behavior may be ask to vacate the library premises.
Who May Borrow Materials?
Borrowing privileges are extended only to current students, faculty, and staff. On occasion, courtesy borrowing privileges are provided (for a limited period of time) to those who make application to the Director of the Library.
The length of time that you can borrow materials from the Library depends upon the type of material that you wish to use. Some materials must be used only in the Library; some have a limited duration use (3 days, 1 week, etc.); and others may be borrowed for the majority of the semester.
How Are Materials Borrowed At the Library?
You should always present your Potomac State College ID card when borrowing materials from the Library. In some cases, your card may be temporarily held until in-Library use items are returned (computer laptops, etc.). Check at the Information Desk for more details.
When Happens When Material Is Due At The Library?
The Library will issue email notices when: materials are due; items are overdue; or when bills are owed.
Costs for damaged and/or lost materials will be billed to your STAR account. Bills will include replacement costs for missing items as well as a standard processing fee of $20 per item. Library users with unpaid financial obligations may have their accounts blocked until full payment is received.
How Do I Know If I Owe Anything To The Library?
You can always log in to My Library Account to verify items you have borrowed, renew items that may be overdue, or review financial obligations.
Where Do I Get Library Help?
Remember that you can always get help by asking a Librarian! For more details, consult with Library personnel at the Information Desk on the First Floor (Phone: 304-788-6901).Print collections can be found on the main floor of the library.
